The Dirty Picture , upcoming Bollywood movie starred Vidya Balan on the life of the South Indian movie sex symbol Silk Smitha.
Due to her overt sex appeal, she switched to roles of cabaret dancers and vamp roles . After garnering much notice and acclaim with her first major role in the Tamil film Vandi Chakkaram, in 1979, Smitha assumed the screen name "Silk", after her character's name in the movie.
